HOW IT PLAYS

Three moves to learn. A lifetime of ways to ruin someone's turn.

📝
1

Place one letter

On your turn you add a single letter anywhere on the shared grid. Everyone builds on the same board, so a letter that helps you probably helps them too.

👆
2

Swipe to claim words

Drag across connected cells to lock in a word. Claimed cells turn your colour, chain multiple words in one turn and the combo bonus stacks up fast.

🃏
3

Play your power cards

Steal seconds off a rival's clock, bomb a cell they need, or mirror their attack straight back. Highest score when the grid fills up takes it.

Bonus cells (double letter, triple letter, double word) sit on the board from the start — landing a long word on one is usually the moment a match swings.

POWER CARDS

The reason Word Fighter isn't a polite game.

Power card tiers and the equipped power deck.

Equip a deck.
Ruin someone's turn.

Every match you carry a power deck. Cards unlock as you climb seven tiers — Rookie, Adept, Skirmisher, Tactician, Striker, Master and Grandmaster — and you spend XP to stock them.

Attack cards break the board. Defence cards bounce attacks back at whoever sent them. Utility cards buy you the one thing you never have enough of: time.

7 tiers 23 cards Earned with XP Counterable

⚔️ Attack

  • Freeze — steal 15 seconds from an opponent's turn
  • Stun — end their turn immediately
  • Cell Bomb — blow a letter off the grid
  • Line Buster — blast up to five letters in one swipe
  • Letter Lock — freeze a cell they were counting on
  • Score Raid — take their best word's points for yourself
  • Word Copy — claim their highest-scoring word too
  • Rotate & Shuffle — rearrange the whole board

🛡️ Defence

  • Shield — block the next attack aimed at you
  • Mirror — reflect it back at the sender instead
  • Bomb Diffuser — restore a bombed cell
  • Line Healer — repair up to five cracked cells at once
  • Letter Unlock — break out of a lock

🔮 Utility

  • Time Warp — add 20 seconds to your turn
  • Multiplier — double everything you score this turn
  • Two Letters — place a second letter this turn

A new grid
every single day.

Not in the mood for a fight? The daily puzzle is one fixed grid, the same for everyone on the planet, and one question: how many words can you pull out of it before the timer dies?

Finish and you get a spoiler-free result card built for the group chat, a place on the daily leaderboard, and a streak you will absolutely refuse to break.

THE BATTLEFIELD

A shared grid where strategy beats vocabulary.

Place. Swipe. Score.

Every player adds letters to the same board, so half the game is deciding what not to give away. Open up a triple word cell and someone else will take it before your next turn.

When you spot a word, swipe across the cells to claim it. Claimed cells lock in your colour and bank the points — and a good turn claims several words at once.

NOT ANOTHER
WORD GAME

Three things Word Fighter does that the classics don't.

Unlike tile games

You don't own your letters

There's no rack and no hidden hand. Every letter goes on the shared board where anyone can build on it — including the person you were setting a trap for.

Unlike solo puzzles

Someone is fighting back

Opponents move while you think, the turn clock is always running, and a power card can wipe out the setup you spent three turns building.

Unlike long board games

It fits in a coffee break

A full match runs about five minutes. Pick a 4×4 grid with a 30-second timer and it's over even faster.

QUESTIONS

The things people ask before they install.

Is Word Fighter free?

Yes. The full game — multiplayer, daily puzzle, leaderboards and power cards — is free. There are optional purchases for boosters, cosmetics and an ad-free experience, and you can earn most consumables with XP just by playing.

Do I need friends online to play?

No. Public rooms run around the clock, so you can join a live match with strangers in seconds. There's also bot practice and a solo daily puzzle if you'd rather not play against people at all.

How is this different from Scrabble or Wordle?

There's no letter rack — every player places letters on one shared grid, and you claim words by swiping across connected cells rather than laying down a full word. Turns are timed and run in real time, and power cards let you attack opponents directly.

How long does a match take?

About five minutes on default settings. You can make it shorter with a small grid and a fast turn timer, or longer with a 6×6 board and 60-second turns.

Do I need an account?

Sign in with Google to save your stats, skill rating, power cards and leaderboard position across devices. You can delete your account and data at any time from the link in the footer.

What are power cards, exactly?

Single-use abilities you equip before a match. Some help you (extra time, hints, score multipliers), some attack opponents (freezing their clock, bombing cells, stealing points), and some defend against attacks. You unlock them by earning XP.

Which platforms is it on?

Word Fighter is available on Android through Google Play.

Can I play with my own rules?

Yes. Private games let you set grid size, maximum players, turn time and minimum word length, and toggle negative points, time bonuses and board seeding.
